The word jewel is an anglicized form of the old French “jouel” circa the 13th century. Jewelry is known as the oldest form of ornament. The recently found beads made from “Nassarius” shells which are 100,000 years old are thought to be the oldest jewelry.
It is mostly seen that jewelry is stored by people in means of wealth and functionally used to hold a garment or hairs together. The earliest pieces of jewelry were made by natural materials like animal teeth, bone, carved stone, shells and wood.
Previously the more exotic jewelry was made for riches to symbolize their social status i.e. made for wealthy people only. To show the social status only in many cases people were buried with the jewelry.

The other type of jewelry includes the wire jewelry or wrap or wire sculpture jewelry which is made up of any kind of metal wire and the stones and gems are fixed into it.
Jewelry is something which enhances the person’s persona and also adds up the social status to their living style.
